Bringing the Garden Into the Heart of the Home: Bespoke Botanical Splashbacks

If you're looking for a unique way to add beauty and character to your kitchen, utility, or bathroom, a bespoke botanical splashback offers more than just a practical surface — it's a personal piece of ceramic art that brings nature into your home in the most meaningful way.

At the heart of my work is a deep love for British-grown flowers and plants. I create one-of-a-kind ceramic splashbacks using real botanicals — often gathered from gardens, wild spaces, or even special bouquets. Each leaf, stem, or petal is pressed directly into clay, capturing delicate textures and natural movement that can never be repeated.

What Makes Botanical Splashbacks So Special?

Unlike mass-produced tiles, each botanical splashback is handmade using grogged stoneware and crank clays — chosen for their strength, character, and earthy texture. Every tile tells a story of a season, a place, or a memory. You might choose to preserve flowers from your own garden, commemorate a wedding or anniversary bouquet, or simply celebrate your favourite plants.

The result is a tactile, timeless surface that elevates everyday spaces and creates a true talking point in your home.

The Process: How It Works

The creation of a bespoke botanical splashback starts with a conversation — often about your garden, a particular flower you love, or the atmosphere you'd like to create in your space.

From there, I:

  1. Select and press real plant material into clay to form richly detailed impressions.

  2. Design the layout based on your space — whether a single focal tile, a set of repeat tiles, or a flowing composition.

  3. Hand-finish and glaze each piece to bring out texture and subtle colour variation.

  4. Fire the tiles at high temperatures to create a strong, durable surface suitable for kitchens, bathrooms or utility areas.

Tiles can be made in a variety of sizes and layouts to suit your needs.
